Saturday, June 13
Beginning at 9:30 a.m., experience the thunder and tradition of Civil War artillery with Taylors Battery – 1st Illinois Light Artillery Co. B. Hourly programs will share the role of artillery units during the Civil War, complete with demonstrations of original equipment, explanations of how gear was transported, and insights into soldiers’ daily lives. Reenactors in authentic uniforms make this living history experience both immersive and photo-friendly for families.
Visitors can also meet Major Richard Conover, portrayed by Ron Kirchgessner, surgeon of the 108th Illinois Infantry Field Hospital. His presentation highlights the medical tools and techniques used on the battlefield, offering a fascinating look at wartime medicine and the realities faced by Civil War surgeons.
The evening concludes on a high note at 7 p.m. with the Rock River Jazz Band performing patriotic favorites at the RB&W District Park amphitheater.

Sunday’s events begin with a meaningful Flag Day ceremony conducted by the Rock Falls American Legion, honoring the American flag and the values it represents.
Following the ceremony, the 144th Army Band takes the stage at the RB&W District Park amphitheater for a powerful musical performance celebrating America’s legacy and those who serve.
